This is held each Sunday at 11 00, the exception being during the Summer School Holidays when services start at 10 00. Additionally, early Services are held on the first ( Holy Communion ) and last Sunday of each month and these commence at 09 45.  The Church Record and this web site gives details of times for these services.  Special services are held throughout the year at various times e.g. Holy Week, Christmas.

On the first Sunday in July each year, a service is held in the evening in the Churchyard of the ruined Kirk of Kilallan in Barochan Cross Road.

The choir meets for practice on Thursdays in the Killellan Halls at 19 30 (except June, July & August). We are always pleased to welcome new members. If you enjoy singing, please contact us using the contact form.

A crèche (up to 3 years) and BTS  (3 years and over) are available to the children and is held in the Killellan Halls after the childrens hymn. Children attending crèche or BTS should enter via the door in the sanctuary and not go outside. Each child needs to be registered (once only) and to collect a name badge (each Sunday). Please see the crèche/BTS staff at the back of the church before the service or come through with your child to the Killellan Halls at the appointed time.

Baptisms are held during the morning service on Sundays and these can be arranged by contacting the minister, Rev. Gary Noonan, telephone (01505) 612569 or email -

We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of March and October. There are 3 services on each day 11 00, 14 00 and 18 45. A common cup is used for elders on duty and available to any members of the congregation who wish to use it. It is served in the front two rows of the church.

We also celebrate Holy Communion at the early morning service on the first Sunday of each month at 09 45. The common cup is used filled with alcoholic wine.

On Easter Day there is a short communion service in the churchyard at 08 00.  On the first Sunday of every month, with the exception of March and October, there is a celebration of the Lord's Supper in the church at 0945. Fortified wine is used in the common cup. The rest of the congregation are served bread and wine in individual glass thimble containers using non-alcoholic wine.

'The Record' is produced 9 times per year.  This magazine and the Church of Scotland magazine 'Life and Work' are available to all. Copies can be obtained by contacting the church using the contact form.

The bookstall is available at the front of the Church after morning service on most Sundays. A number of members of the congregation now use a daily Bible reading plan.  Perhaps you would like to try one too.  Please feel free to come and browse. Apart from the spiritual benefits, the Church benefits financially from a percentage of the sales.

The Kirk Carnival is held on the 2nd Saturday in May each year and is one of the highlights of Houston community life. The funds raised from this Carnival, usually in excess of £10,000, enable our Church buildings to be maintained in good condition and help us to meet a number of our other financial commitments.

We have a dedicated group of members who send a parcel of baby clothes to our missionary partners (Keith and Ida Waddell in Mwandi) so that a parcel arrives each month. Ida is most grateful for these clothes which help her in her work trying to persuade the young mums who are HIV positive not to breast feed their babies and thus make the new born babies HIV positive. In addition the Kirk also gives money for formula milk for the mums to feed their babies. This would not be possible without the generosity of our members and that generosity is most appreciated.

Recently some of our young mums have donated baby clothes for Mwandi which I have put into parcels and addressed in the hope that some other members might be willing to post a 'one off' parcel (which would cost approx. £10.00). If you feel you could help in this way please contact us.
