On Sunday 3rd June Gary Noonan preached as sole nominee to a packed Kirk here in Houston.

All members then had the opportunity to place their vote and finally at 1.30 p.m. the announcement was made:

We are delighted therefore to announce that Gary Noonan is to be our new Minister.

Thanks to everyone who came along to hear Gary preach and to lend their support - this was greatly appreciated. Apologies the process of voting and counting appeared to take so long.

We all look forward to Gary Noonan leading us forward as a Church here in Houston.

The date and time of his Service of Ordination and Induction will be announced as soon as known.

Helen M. Dunn

Convener of Nominating Committee

FOR          231

Gary was born in New Cumnock where he stayed until the family moved to Mauchline when he was 11 years old.

Following his education at Auchinleck Academy, Gary went on to join Strathclyde Police, starting in Kilmarnock.  After three years, he moved to the Traffic Department, before being promoted to Sergeant, he was then promoted to Inspector in Paisley, leaving the police after 13 years to pursue a calling to ministry.

Gary studied Theology at the University of the Highlands and Islands, Highland Theological College, graduating in 2017.  As a candidate for ministry he has undertaken placements at Kilmarnock: St Kentigerns; Bearsden: New Kilpatrick and Kilmarnock: Kay Park Parish Church.  Gary is now completing the final two months of his probationary placement at Alloway Parish Church.

Gary is married to Ruth, they have two boys Robbie (12) and Gregor (6), and currently live in Troon.  His main interests these days are watching his boys play football (and taxiing them to it), getting an occasional game of golf, cycling and reading.

Gary and the family are very much looking forward to joining the congregation and community in Houston and getting to know and journey with you in the months and years ahead.
