congratulations!

We are delighted that you would like us to be involved in your wedding, and hope that you will have a very happy and memorable day.

Anyone can marry in our Church; all are welcome.

Our Minister is authorised to conduct same sex marriages.

You do not have to be a Church member, but obviously your Marriage Service will be a religious ceremony.

ARRANGING A WEDDING

In the first instance, please contact our Minister, Revd. Gary Noonan, who will arrange to have a conversation with you both about your journey to marriage as a couple, and what a religious wedding means to you, as well as talking through the legal requirements.

He will also discuss possible dates and the details of the service with you, including whether you would like to be married in our Church, or at another location, as our Minister is able conduct Marriage Services off site too.

You may invite another Minister to conduct your wedding, so long as he/she is an ordained Minister of the Church of Scotland and holds a current Ministerial Practising Certificate.

A rehearsal can be arranged before your wedding day – the Minister will discuss this with you.

The minister will talk to you about why you want to marry in church, what a religious wedding means to you, about the legal requirements, arrange a mutually suitable date (to avoid holidays etc) and discuss the detail of the service with you. This will be over several sessions prior to the actual wedding day.

Marriage Schedule

The Marriage Schedule is your licence to be married. It is the most important thing to remember, as without it there cannot be a ceremony.

Couples should contact the local Registrar at least 6-8 weeks before their wedding date to apply for a Marriage Schedule and make sure that this document is handed to the Minister before the ceremony.

MUSIC

Our Church Organist, Peter McKerrell, will be able to help with your choice of hymns, voluntaries and processional music. He can be contacted on 01505 872448 or pmckerrell@hotmail.co.uk

FLOWERS

Please liaise with Carol Rankin, the Church Officer, who will be able to arrange access to the Church for your florist.

Carol can be contacted on 07815 562383 or hkkhallbookings@gmail.com

On your wedding day

The Bridegroom and Best Man should arrive 20 minutes before the ceremony is due to begin, and meet with the Minister.

The wedding service and signing of the Marriage Schedule usually takes around 35 minutes.

There should be no photography by guests during the service; the Minister will make sure there is an opportunity for photographs at an appropriate point and photographers are welcome to be present for the signing of the Marriage Schedule.

FEES

The Minister does not charge a fee to conduct the wedding service.

However, the following charges apply to cover other costs:

Church members are asked to pay £495 (£350 to cover the costs of the Church; £50 for the Church Officer and £95 for the Church Organist)

Non-members of the Church are asked to pay £595 (£450 to cover the costs of the Church; £50 for the Church Officer and £95 for the Church Organist).

The minister will talk to you about why you want to marry in church, what a religious wedding means to you, about the legal requirements, arrange a mutually suitable date (to avoid holidays etc) and discuss the detail of the service with you. This will be over several sessions prior to the actual wedding day.
